For most of us 2012 will be the defining election of our lifetime. It will require all of us who believe in democracy and our constitution to participate as we never have before in order to preserve our country.  Our very foundation of freedom is threatened and, indeed, has already been breached in several places.  Unfortunately, these last three years are but a taste of what is to come if we re-elect Barach Obama and fail to put conservatives in control of the House and Senate.

 

Since I am new to this job I would like to state a few truths that I firmly believe as a Republican:

    

1. 1. Our first obligation is to the security of our country; peace requires a strong military defense program; our country owes honor and support to our troops; and we have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

 

2. The government should not overstep its constitutional function; less government is better government; and the government should serve the people, not support the people.

2. 3. God is central to our constitution because our constitution is founded on Biblical tenets; the Ten Commandments should be displayed prominently; unborn children have the individual rights, sanctity, and dignity endowed by God.

I could go on with my strong beliefs but I will close one of my favorite quotations by Edmund Burke.

Tuesday, May 22nd Meeting Details

Our meetings are on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Eat and Greet is at 6 PM with the meeting starting at 7PM. The meeting venue is at the Trust Company Bank's Community Room in Brighton.

Paul Houghland is the West TN Director of Comminuty Relations with David Fowler's Family Action Council of Tennessee. Mr. Houghland will be the guest speaker for our May meeting. As always a complimentary home cooked dinner will be served at 6PM and the meeting begins at 7PM.

Our next regular monthly meeting will be held on June 26th.
